EDUCATION PROGRAM – FOR DAEWOONG FOUNDATION SCHOOLARSHIP AWARDEE 2019

This month (October 2019), Daewoong-UI Biotechnology Research center has held education program event for Daewoong Foundation scholarship awardee from Universitas Indonesia and Institut Teknologi Bandung. This event is a sequence of Daewoong Foundation Scholarship program as contribution from Daewoong for student’s education and to strengthen the cooperative relationship between Daewoong and recipient universities. The event raised a theme on Biosimilar because of its high interest from biopharmaceutical industry

This event consisted of two main event. On the first day, Thursday 10^th October 2019, Daewoong created a seminar, entitled “Embracing Biosimilar for Global Health Improvement; The Critical Point of Biosimilar”. This seminar was attended by around 25 students from several majors of Universitas Indonesia and took place in Daewoong Bio Technology Research Centre, Universitas Indonesia. The seminar consisted of 2 session. In the first session, Mr Lee Eui Nam, as Head of Researcher DW-UI explained about introduction of biosimilar. In the second session, the presentation is presented by Mr. Dhaval Patel, as Business Development Specialist of Waters Pacific Pte Ltd, one of well-known company in pharmaceutical field. Mr Dhaval Patel explained about Analytical Method Development in Biopharmaceutical using HPLC to LC-MS instruments. After all presentation finished, there were discussion between students and speakers. The discussion between the students and the speakers was very interactive and fun. The students actively asked questions about the topic presented by the speakers. For ITB awardees, Daewoong created a webinar that can be joined by awardees via online application. The purpose was to assure the ITB awardees could still join the program and get full-benefit of material presented by speakers in this seminar. The next day on Friday 11^thOctober 2019, workshop session was held and attended by 34 students of Universitas Indonesia. The workshop was divided into 2 sessions. In the first session, the awardees were given the opportunity to conduct laboratory hands-on directly under the supervision of research and development officer as mentor. They learned Ultrafiltration-Diafiltration process for protein using simple microconcentrator to Lab-Scale TFF instrument, and HPLC analysis using Reverse Phase to Size Exclusion Chromatography methods. The awardees were full of excitement doing the laboratory works and most of them actively asked the question about the topic. They showed high curiosity about the instrument that was being explained by the mentors.

DAEWOONG’s SCHOLARSHIP GRANTING CEREMONY 2018 TO UNIVERSITAS INDONESIA

In order to achieve greater progress with Indonesia, Daewoong Indonesia made a strategic movement to promote Indonesia as the base of medicines production center in the world and to realize this strategy, we are currently doing Academic Cooperation with several universities and Universitas Indonesia is one of them, in contribute to the education by providing scholarships for outstanding students.

This 35,000 USD scholarship is awarded by Daewoong Foundation for UI’s Faculty of Pharmacy students and other related faculty. The allocation for this scholarship is 35 (thirty five) students.

Through this active Open Collaboration between Daewoong and Universities, we expected to develop the experts whose ready to work and develop medicine products with excellent quality, and can also may contribute to the development of health sector and medicine industry in Indonesia.

The scholarhips is given by the representative of Daewoong Indonesia, Yang Woong Yeol as a Chief of Representative of Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., Lee Jihyun as a General Manager, Abraham Simon, S.H., LL.M. as a Legal Affairs Manager and Lee Eui Nam as a Head of Research UI-Daewoong witnessed by UI’s Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Mahdi Jufri, M.Si., Apt., in the Granting Ceremony Daewoong Scholarship 2018 which held on May 15, 2018, at UI’s Center Administration Building.

THE INAUGURATION OF BIO TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH CENTRE UI – DAEWOONG

Daewoong Pharmaceutical Company Indonesia (Daewoong Indonesia) make a collaboration with Universitas Indonesia (UI) in the establishment of “Bio Technology Research Centre UI-Daewoong” which located at Integrated Learning & Research Center (ILRC) UI, Depok, West Java, Indonesia. This facility was inaugurated on Friday (6/4) by the Rector of UI, Prof. Muhammad Anies, M.Met and President Director of Daewoong Indonesia, Mr. Jeon Sengho, witnessed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea for Indonesia, H.E. KIM Chang Beom, Director General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices, Ministry of Health, Dra. Maura Linda Sitanggang, Ph.D., Director General for Research and Development, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Dr. Muhammad Dimyati, together with the Board of Director of Daewoong Indonesia and UI’s management.

Bio Technology Research Centre UI – Daewoong is the first educational research & development centre for biotechnology in Indonesia and will develop new biological medicine (Biosimilars, mAb, and Steam cell products) with university and research institute by Open-collaboration program. Daewoong Indonesia already developed a hemopoietin (EPODION) in Indonesia and through this facility will develop another bio medicines step by step and at the end will contribute to the Indonesian Healthcare Industry through developing of bio-technology infrastructure and the innovation of bio medicines. In order to achieve greater progress with Indonesia, Daewoong Indonesia made a strategic movement to promote Indonesia as the base of medicines production center in the world and to realize this strategy, we are currently doing Academic Cooperation with several universities and Bandung Institute of Technology is one of them, in contribute to the education by providing scholarships for outstanding students at the ITB School of Pharmacy.

This 20,000 USD scholarship is awarded by Daewoong Foundation for ITB School of Pharmacy students. The allocation for this scholarship is 20 (twenty) students.

The scholarhips are given by the representative of Daewoong Indonesia, Abraham Simon, S.H., LL.M. as a Legal Affairs Manager and Irma S.Si., Apt. as a Regulatory Affairs Manager witnessed by Dean of School of Pharmacy ITB, Prof.Dr. Daryono Hadi Tjahjono, M.Si., Apt. in the Granting Ceremony of Daewoong Scholarship ceremony which held on March 21^st, 2018, at the Edukatorium, 4^th floor, ITB School of Pharmacy, Bandung, West Java.
